The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) nabbed an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Delhi Police for accepting bribe, the agency said on Tuesday.
The accused, posted at the Paschim Vihar police station, was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe amount of Rs 15,000.
According to the agency, a complaint in this regard was received on February 7. The complainant alleged that the cop demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 for favouring his brother in securing bail. The accused also threatened to implicate his brother in other cases if the amount was not paid.
Based on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap and caught the officer red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 15,000 from the complainant. He was subsequently arrested.
The agency said further investigation was on and involvement of any other official from the police station is under scanner.
The CBI advised citizens to report the instances of corruption by government officials if they come across any such instances.
