With a special focus on preventing drunken driving and dangerous stunts, the Delhi Police have intensified security arrangements in the national capital in view of the Holi celebrations.
Over 15,000 police personnel will be deployed across Delhi on Wednesday to maintain law and order during the celebrations, officials said.
Senior officers said police teams would be positioned at sensitive locations, major intersections, markets and residential areas to deter any untoward incidents.
Personnel from district police units, traffic police and PCR teams will conduct intensified patrolling throughout the city. Special enforcement drives will target drunken driving, rash driving and hazardous stunts on motorcycles.
Multiple pickets will be set up on key roads and at border points, while traffic police equipped with breath analysers and speed detection devices will carry out checks across the day to identify and prosecute offenders.
Strict action will be taken against violations such as triple riding, speeding and performing wheelies or other stunts on two-wheelers.
The police have also ensured adequate arrangements for prompt response to PCR calls. Anti-sabotage checks will be conducted at crowded locations, and plainclothes personnel will be deployed to monitor and prevent mischief.
