According to the police, the incident occurred on Saturday and a PCR call was received after locals noticed smoke coming out from the grocery shop.

A team rushed the spot and found the shop’s shutter partially lowered with dense smoke inside.

Preliminary investigation suggests the fire may have started due to short-circuit in the shop’s counter area. The presence of plastic packets stored nearby caused the flames to spread rapidly, an official said.
