Vijender Gupta, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, has strongly criticised the AAP government for deliberately withholding 14 CAG reports, accusing them of violating constitutional provisions. Gupta’s remarks came after the Delhi High Court’s decision on a petition filed by him and seven other BJP MLAs concerning the delayed presentation of the reports.

Speaking to the media after the court’s ruling, Gupta stated that the court had confirmed that the AAP government had intentionally delayed presenting the 14 CAG reports in the Assembly, despite having received them from the CAG without any valid reason for the delay. Gupta emphasized that while the GNCTD Act does not prescribe a specific time frame for the reports to be presented, the court found that the prolonged delay in submitting them was a violation of constitutional norms.

Describing the court’s ruling as a “slap on the face” of the AAP government, Gupta said the decision highlighted corruption across multiple cases, including the controversial liquor policy that reportedly caused a loss of Rs 2,026 crore to the state treasury and over Rs 33 crore spent on renovating former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s “Sheesh Mahal.” He accused the government of engaging in large-scale corruption and financial mismanagement.

Gupta asserted that the AAP government’s attempts to conceal these irregularities were a clear case of “looting and boldly denying it.”
