Cultural Ministry inaugurates 'Savee cafeteria' at Qutub Minar, under 'Adopt a Heritage 2.0'

The Ministry of Culture on Saturday inaugurated 'Savee Cafeteria' within the Qutub Minar premises in the city, under the 'Adopt a Heritage 2.0' programme of the Archaeological Survey of India.

The government has teamed up with the EaseMyTrip Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the travel-tech platform, for this initiative, which aims to enhance the visitor experience at one of India’s prominent heritage sites.

"Ease my Trip Foundation has adopted the famous @UNESCO World Heritage site of Qutub Minar. This development under Public Partnership Partnership model will further enhance visitor amenities and enrich the overall experience for tourists visiting the iconic monument," the ministry said in a post on X.

Culture Secretary Vivek Aggarwal said the collaboration underscores the importance of joint efforts between public and private sectors in preserving India’s rich heritage while also boosting the tourism sector.

"The cafeteria aims to provide visitors with hygienic, affordable dining options that contribute to a more pleasant overall experience during their visit," he said.

The move comes at a time when the country is witnessing an uptick of heritage and experiential tourism with over 250 crore domestic visits.

The Qutub Minar, which attracts nearly 3 million visitors annually, also stands as a testament to the burgeoning interest in India’s cultural landmarks.

"The primary goal of introducing Savee Cafeteria is to elevate the visitor experience at Qutub Minar by ensuring access to clean food facilities. This move aligns with the contemporary demands of travellers who favour immersive experiences during their journeys," Tourism Secretary Bhuvnesh Kumar said.

Ajay Verna, Chief Experience Officer, EaseMyTrip Foundation, emphasised the need for improved visitor infrastructure, which plays a crucial role in the modern tourism narrative.

The partnership is also exploring supplementary initiatives that could potentially include heritage walks and integrated cultural experiences. These projects are intended to deepen visitor engagement while promoting sustainable tourism practices.
