Cyber police stations to be strengthened in Gurugram; major reshuffle soon: CP Kabiraj

To strengthen cyber police stations, a major reshuffle is coming soon in all four cyber police stations in Gurugram.

Gurugram Police Commissioner (CP) Sibash Kabiraj said to curb cybercrime cases, several sweeping changes, apart from personnel changes, will be implemented.

Cybercrime in Gurugram has surged to over 40,000 annual complaints, encompassing part-time job fraud, digital arrests, sextortion, credit card fraud, APK file scams and fake call centres targeting both domestic and international victims. As per the police data, while complaints have increased, total financial losses declined last year due to rapid police intervention and bank account freezing.

Gurugram has four cyber police stations — East, West, South and Manesar — set up to curb the menace of increasing cybercrime cases. More than 220 policemen are posted in all four police stations under the supervision of the DCP and ACP.

A total of 41,395 cyber fraud complaints were received in 2025, while over 17,000 complaints have been received this year until May 31. A total of 660 FIRs were registered this year until May 31 and over 100 cyber criminals were arrested. Last year, a total of 41,395 cyber fraud complaints were received and more than 1,800 accused were arrested for cyber frauds.

“Cybercrime is one of the biggest challenges today. First, we are reshuffling the manpower in all four cyber police stations. Cyber police stations are being strengthened with trained manpower, enhancing technical capabilities and providing specialised training to investigating officers. Our focus will be on the disposal of cases and recovery. Greater coordination with banks, telecom companies and national agencies will be ensured,” Kabiraj told The Tribune.
