The Delhi Commission for Women has rescued a victim from her in-laws house in Faridabad following a complaint from her father about her daughter’s ordeal.

On visiting the spot, a team of DCW along with the local police found the victim in a “disturbed” condition.

It is learnt that she had been allegedly forced to consume some medicines by her mother-in-law and was repeatedly beaten by her husband, said a commission official.

The lady, who was married about two years ago, was allegedly harassed “mentally and physically by her husband and in-laws”, as per the complaint of her father who contacted the commission.

“The victim’s father and sister contacted the DCW. The father informed that his daughter remains captive in her house, she is not allowed to go outside and she is not provided food properly,” said the official.

The father alleged they had started harassing her soon after her marriage and the victim has 10 months old twin daughters but one of the daughters was being kept away from the mother.

“One lived with the aggrieved lady and other with the mother-in-law,” the official said.

Her complaint was lodged at Bhoopani Chowki, Faridabad, and she was taken to trauma centre. Later, she returned to her parental house with her father and sister.

The commission has demanded strict action in the matter and would be issuing notices to the Faridabad Police on the same.
