Delhi: AISA renews demand to scrap NTA, NEP-2020

The All India Students’ Association (AISA) on Thursday organised a “Victory March” at the Arts Faculty of the University of Delhi, with hundreds of students participating to celebrate what the organisation described as the success of the Jantar Mantar movement and the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The march also served as a platform to reiterate AISA’s demand for the scrapping of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the rollback of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Addressing the gathering, AISA All India president Neha urged students to continue the struggle against what she described as systemic issues in the education sector. She said, “It is for the new students of DU to remember the violence that Amit Shah unleashed on your fellow students. It is upon us to remember those who fell victim to institutional neglect and those affected by the scams of the NTA. We must also remember those pushed to the margins of education because of the NEP 2020. It is upon us to take the fight for an equal and just education forward.”

The march concluded with Akshat, a student of Motilal Nehru College and an applicant in NEET and Re-NEET 2026, addressing the gathering. He said, “We have lost our futures due to the systemic collapse imposed on us under this regime. As a student of DU, I take it upon myself to fight this crime against education.”

In a statement, AISA said the movement would continue beyond the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, arguing that the change in leadership at the Union Education Ministry does not alter the government’s education policies. The organisation alleged that the new Education Minister also represents what it termed a “corporate-driven education policy” under NEP 2020.
