Delhi civic body to launch ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ from Sept 14

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is set to kick off the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ (SHS) campaign, running from September 14 to October 1. This year’s initiative, under the theme ‘Swabhav Swachhata-Sanskaar Swachhata,’ aims to highlight cleanliness as both a personal and collective responsibility.
The campaign will prioritise public involvement, featuring extensive cleanliness drives to address neglected and challenging areas across the city. Volunteers and various stakeholders will play a crucial role in these efforts, ensuring a comprehensive approach to sanitation.
As a part of the campaign, the MCD will organise ‘Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs’, which will offer preventive health check-ups and connect sanitation workers with government welfare schemes. These camps are designed to protect the health of those involved in cleanliness operations.
Each MCD zone will develop a detailed action plan to support the campaign, engaging key figures such as zonal departments, ministers, MPs, MLAs, the Mayor, councillors, brand ambassadors, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Market Trader Associations (MTAs).
Major programmes will be held throughout September to foster community engagement and underscore the significance of sanitation. The campaign will include various activities in residential areas, markets, and public spaces, focusing on educating citizens about proper waste management and maintaining clean surroundings.
