Delhi CM Atishi stopped from meeting detained climate activist Sonam Wangchuk

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi was stopped outside the Bawana Police Station on Tuesday while she was heading to meet climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was detained last night trying to enter the National Capital with his supporters.

Atishi reached the police station around 1 pm but was stopped by police officers, the party said in a statement.

Wangchuk was on his way to Delhi along with 150 supporters who were marching on foot from Ladakh.

The supporters were also detained and have been kept at several other police stations at Delhi borders.

In a post on X, Atishi on Monday had announced that she would visit Wangchuk, who is currently detained in the Bawana Police Station, situated on the Delhi-Haryana border.

Wangchuk on Monday night had shared a post on X saying he was being detained by the Delhi Police late on Monday evening from Singhu Border.
