Delhi Congress chief ‘publicity hungry’: BJP
The Delhi BJP launched a sharp counter-attack on Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav, calling him a “publicity-hungry leader” who holds neither organisational nor administrative responsibilities but continues to issue statements daily to stay in the news.
Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor accused Yadav of lacking political relevance and relying on media attention through press releases rather than ground-level work.
“The Congress has lost its entire political standing in Delhi. Apart from a few councillors from a particular community, the rest of the city has rejected the Congress,” Kapoor said.
Responding to Yadav’s criticism of the BJP government’s handling of the recent rains, the BJP spokesperson said the rainfall around midnight on May 1 and 2 was not ordinary but a storm that led to waterlogging in several parts of the Capital.
“Unlike previous AAP and Congress governments that relied solely on officials, BJP ministers and leaders were on the ground. PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh started inspections from 5:30 am and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was seen on the streets by 8 am,” Kapoor said.
He further challenged Devender Yadav to recall if former Chief Ministers like late Sheila Dikshit or Arvind Kejriwal ever stepped out during rains so early in the day to supervise relief work.
The BJP reiterated that the Rekha Gupta government has committed to completing drain and trunk sewer cleaning before the onset of monsoon to avoid flooding in the city.
