On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday dedicated 81 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs to the people of the Capital, marking a major push towards strengthening accessible and community-based healthcare. With these additions, the total number of operational Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in Delhi has risen to 319, bringing the government closer to its target of establishing 15 centres in each Assembly constituency and 1,100 such facilities across the city. The Chief Minister inaugurated the new centres from the Hari Nagar Assembly constituency and carried out a detailed inspection of healthcare facilities at an Ayushman Arogya Mandir. She reviewed OPD rooms, laboratories, medicine distribution counters, vaccination units, and maternal and child care centres, while also assessing operational systems and service quality. Interacting with doctors, nurses and paramedical staff, Gupta sought feedback on service delivery and directed officials to ensure that health records and patient registration systems remain transparent, accurate and user-friendly.Addressing the gathering, Gupta said dedicating 81 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs on Makar Sankranti and Lohri reflected the government’s commitment to public welfare. She noted that several hospital projects had remained stalled for years due to neglect by previous administrations, but the present government was completing all unfinished healthcare projects within a transparent and time-bound framework. Highlighting support from the Centre, she said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Delhi’s healthcare infrastructure was being steadily expanded through new Arogya Mandirs, laboratories and hospital blocks.

Over the past 11 months, the Delhi government has established 319 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, set up Jan Aushadhi Kendras, added new blocks in five major hospitals, installed dialysis machines and digitised government hospitals. Gupta said patients can now access OPD appointments and medical records through mobile phones, improving transparency and convenience. She added that over six lakh Delhi residents have been registered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, with the income limit for EWS beneficiaries raised from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.

As part of the city-wide rollout, Pankaj Kumar Singh inaugurated a new Ayushman Arogya Mandir at Bhimnagari in Malviya Nagar, while Minister for Art, Culture, Language and Tourism Shri Kapil Mishra opened another centre at Sonia Vihar, Karawal Nagar. Mishra also announced plans for a full-fledged hospital in the constituency during the current tenure.

The Ayushman Arogya Mandirs provide a range of free services, including around 80 types of diagnostic tests, essential medicines, immunisation, maternal and child care, mental health support, nutrition counselling and day-care treatment. The government said the expansion would reduce pressure on major hospitals and ensure dignified, accessible primary healthcare close to people’s homes, aligning with its vision of a ‘Viksit Delhi’.
