Delhi govt school students showcase innovative projects
NEEEV event: Over 5L children associated with programme so far, says Sood
Education Minister Ashish Sood attended the NEEEV (New Era of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem & Vision) zonal-level event at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Moti Bagh-I, here. The event brought together young innovators from Delhi government schools, showcasing student-led solutions to real-life problems.
A total of 46 students selected from various zones presented their innovative projects at the zonal-level programme. The mega NEEEV initiative aims to inculcate innovation-based thinking among students and motivate them to explore entrepreneurship as a viable career pathway. The platform focuses on nurturing creativity, problem solving skills, and a spirit of self-reliance among school students.
Addressing students from different government schools, Ashish Sood congratulated participants for their start-up initiatives and highlighted the broader vision behind the programme.
Referring to India’s growing start-up ecosystem, the minister said “before 2014, there were only a handful of start-ups in the country, whereas today more than 2 lakh start-ups are actively operating across India.”
Reflecting the same spirit, he noted that the Delhi Government had provided financial assistance of nearly Rs 10 crore this year under the NEEEV programme. Around 1.5 lakh students from nearly 1,000 Delhi Government schools worked on more than 30,000 innovative ideas, with approximately 30 teams from each school presenting their concepts.
He said “this exercise was not merely about pitching ideas, it was a process of learning to think creatively, imagine boldly and build self-confidence.”
Elaborating on government support, Sood said “nearly 5,000 teams were provided financial support of Rs 20,000 each, amounting to an investment of about Rs 10 crore directly into students’ ideas.”
He emphasised that “this funding was not given with the expectation that every idea would succeed, but to instil belief in children that their ideas are possible and that the government stands firmly with them.”
Calling NEEEV a unique initiative of the Delhi Government, the minister said so far more than 5 lakh children had been associated with the programme. Highlighting the role of technology, he observed that students have moved beyond merely using Artificial Intelligence and are now developing AI prototypes, with discussions on AI reaching homes and dining tables.
Looking ahead, Sood stressed the importance of scientific validation of student innovations through collaboration with laboratories of leading technical institutions. He remarked that “these students, who are 17-18 years old today, will be the Amrit Peedhi that leads the nation when India becomes a developed country in 2047.”
He said: “Our objective is not merely to impart education, but to ignite belief and confidence within every child.”
The Education Minister also said “the New Era of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem & Vision (NEEEV) is a flagship initiative of the Government of NCT of Delhi, launched on 18 September 2025, to institutionalise entrepreneurship education for students of Classes 8 to 12 in Government schools.”
Aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, the programme focuses on competency-based, multidisciplinary and experiential learning to equip students for future academic, professional and societal challenges.
