In a move that could redefine public education in the Capital, Delhi on Tuesday launched the country’s first AI-driven comprehensive school education model, positioning government schools as gateways to global opportunities. The initiative began with the inauguration of the CM Shri School at Sarojini Nagar by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, alongside the laying of foundation stones for 75 CM Shri School projects across the city.Designed in line with the National Education Policy, the CM Shri Schools are being developed as "Centres of Excellence", combining artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and skill-based learning within the government school system. The model seeks to begin structured preparation for competitive entrance examinations such as engineering, medical, law and defence services directly from school, reducing dependence on private coaching.

Addressing the gathering, Dharmendra Pradhan said, “Through CM Shri Schools, students will receive modern, technology enabled education comparable to private institutions.” He described the rollout of 75 schools as a major step towards equitable education, particularly for students from economically weaker and middle income families.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta underlined the broader vision behind the initiative, stating, “Government schools will now become the first choice of parents, from digital infrastructure to AI-enabled curricula.” She said the schools would focus not only on academic performance but also on personality development, global exposure and employability.

Education Minister Ashish Sood said the transformation would be visible across the city, not limited to select pockets. “Digital and technology enabled education is being made available in government schools,” he said, adding that thousands of classrooms would soon operate with AI-enabled smart boards, ICT labs and digital libraries.

According to the government, the CM Shri School model integrates personalised learning through AI-based classrooms, early exposure to emerging technologies like robotics and design, career guidance labs and mandatory industry linked internships. Officials said the aim is to prepare students not just for board examinations, but for higher education in India and abroad, quality employment and entrepreneurship.

With uniform digital access being extended from central Delhi to its farthest neighbourhoods, the initiative marks one of the most ambitious overhauls of government schooling in the Capital’s history.

Adding further depth to the initiative, an exhibition at the CM Shri School highlighted student-led projects showcasing the school’s focus on skill-based and experiential learning. Language education emerged as a key attraction, with students demonstrating learning in German, Japanese and French. Students Tanu and Dherya shared their preferences, with Tanu opting for French and Dherya pursuing Japanese, reflecting the emphasis on multilingual education and global exposure.

The exhibition also featured creative work in fashion design, where a student presented a handcrafted "Pravah kurta", entirely designed and made by hand. The student said the journey in fashion design began in Class IX and continued through Class XII. In the technology section, a robotics project by Amit, Dayashankar and Bhuvnesh drew attention for its 7 to 10 kg load-bearing model, highlighting hands on engineering learning.
