The Delhi Police on Monday launched a hi-tech DP-DRISTHI (Delhi Police – Dynamic Real-time Identification & Surveillance for Human Tracking Initiative) vehicle equipped with advanced facial recognition system (FRS) in a bid to modernise policing in the national capital.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam launched the vehicle at the Gandhi Nagar Market police station in Shahdara district, marking a new era of technology-driven crime prevention in the district.
DP-DRISTHI is a mobile vehicle equipped with advanced cameras that can scan several faces in a minute and match them with the police database of criminals having previous involvements.
If a match is found, it immediately alerts the police team, enabling quick action. This helps the police stop criminals before they can commit any crime. The ‘DP-DRISTHI’ initiative works on an instant detection model.
“With DP-DRISTHI, we are bringing modern technology directly to the streets. By deploying this mobile unit, the Shahdara District police aim to create a ‘zero-blind-spot’ environment in commercial hubs. This vehicle ensures that if a known offender is roaming in the market, our officers will know about the accused instantly,” said Gautam.
