Delhi School of Journalism hosts AI workshop

The Delhi School of Journalism (DSJ), University of Delhi, in collaboration with the Public Media Tech Foundation, inaugurated a two-day workshop titled “AI For Everyone: Tools, Skills & Ethics” on Tuesday. The event aims to equip future media professionals with knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI), focusing on tools, skills and ethical practices.

The session began with a lighting ceremony followed by a rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’. Dr Sanjay Verma, officer on special duty at DSJ, welcomed dignitaries and participants, introducing the chief guest, Anurag Singh Thakur, Member of Parliament.

In his address, Thakur emphasised the importance of AI in India’s development, stating, “AI will be a key driving force in achieving the nation’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047.’” He called for empowering every Indian with AI literacy to help position India as a global AI powerhouse.

Shalabh Upadhayay, Trustee of the Public Media Tech Foundation, described AI as “not just a technological phenomenon but a creative and ethical challenge that requires thoughtful engagement.” He encouraged participants to explore both the innovative and responsible uses of AI.
