The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has completed the relocation and reconstruction of the Park Street Electric Receiving Sub Station (RSS) under the Central Vista Project, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to key metro corridors and future infrastructure in the National Capital, the corporation said.

Originally built in 2010 during Phase 2 of the Delhi Metro, the Park Street RSS supplied power to the Airport Line and Line 6 (Violet Line). The facility was dismantled in 2021-22 to facilitate construction of the Central Vista Project. Reconstruction began in 2023 on alternate land provided by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and was completed in December 2025.

The newly constructed RSS has been designed to meet the power requirements of the Central Vista Metro Line between Indraprastha and R K Ashram Marg. All major electrical equipment has been reinstalled and commissioned, including 66 kV power transformers, 66 kV GIS panels, 33 kV panels and 25 kV GIS panels.

The combined RSS will continue to supply power to metro trains and stations on the Airport Line and Line 6. In addition, new 25 kV feeders have been installed to meet the traction power requirements of the upcoming Central Vista Metro Line under the Phase 5A expansion project.

Built in line with the latest technical standards, the facility features an upgraded Substation Automation System, energy-efficient VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) air conditioning and LED lighting. Advanced safety systems have also been installed, including automatic fire protection for transformers and electrical panels, along with a fully addressable fire alarm system.

In keeping with sustainability goals, the RSS has been designed to comply with Green Building standards, for which certification has been applied. A solar rooftop power system is also planned to further reduce the carbon footprint of operations.

DMRC said the completion of the Park Street RSS marks another milestone in its efforts to develop modern, safe and sustainable infrastructure while ensuring reliable power supply for the expanding Delhi Metro network.
