The Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) Dwarka arrested an ‘arms supplier’ near Kakroli village, Dwarka and recovered a loaded pistol with two live rounds of 7.65 mm and a country-made pistol with two live rounds of 8 mm from the supplier, said pa olice official.

The accused Surender Rathi (26) is a resident of JJ Colony Bharat Vihar Sector-15 Dwarka. The police alleged him of supplying illegal arms and ammunitions to criminal gangs in Dwarka and Najafgarh area, police said.

“The police laid a trap to catch Surender after receiving an intel about delivering of arms and ammunition by him from the side of Bharat Vihar, Kakrola, Delhi to JJ Colony, Sector-16A, Dwarka,” said Shibesh Singh, DCP (Dwarka).

During police interrogation, accused Surender confessed that he entered into this trade of illegal weapons to earn quick money and to flaunt connections with criminal gangs.

DCP Singh said that earlier, the accused was in the business of sale, purchase and breeding of dogs. However, as the earnings from this business fell short of his aspirations, he ventured into trading illegal arms for quick money.

On getting demands for specific weapons, he used to procure the same from Punjab and deliver after taking handsome profit. The money earned from this lucrative trade of illegal arms was splurged by him on leading extravagant life, DCP added.
