A three-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted between December and January at a residential society in Sector 54, Gurugram, by two female domestic helps along with their male accomplice. Following a complaint by the child’s parents, an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Sector 53 police station.

According to the police, the incident occurred over a period of time between December and January. The parents approached the police earlier this week after the child disclosed the alleged assault to her mother.

The FIR was registered on Wednesday. Sources said the two domestic helps had been detained for questioning, though the police have not officially confirmed this. Both women have been named in the FIR, while the male accomplice has not yet been identified.

A security guard at the society said that the police visited the premises on Tuesday and questioned several residents. The two women were also taken along by the police for questioning.

Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the domestic helps had recently begun working at the girl’s home, while the other was employed in a neighbouring apartment. During this period, a male associate allegedly behaved inappropriately with the child.

Police said the Child Welfare Committee has been informed and is providing counselling to the child and her parents. An official said a senior doctor counselled the child in the presence of her parents.

“FIR was registered and we are taking the case seriously. It is too early to say anything more on this matter. A thorough investigation is going on and the accused will be arrested soon,” said Inspector Satender Kumar, SHO of Sector 53 police station.
