New Delhi, August 16

The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) will set up ultra modern fully computerised four-colour offset printing press to print copies of Guru Granth Sahib at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj complex as per the Sikh religious code.

The Siromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committtee, Amritsar, and the DSGMC have only exclusive and legal rights for publication of the book along with other Gurmat literature.

At present, the SGPC controls all rights for the legal printing of the Granth Sahib done in Amritsar. Now the SGPC and the DSGMC are the world’s largest publishers of Sikh religious books and literature.

The new printing press will have optimum capacity of printing fifteen thousand pages per day to meet the growing demand of the holy book worldwide mainly among overseas Sikh devotees. The new machine will replace twenty-year old two-colour printing press which has so far published approximately one lakh copies of holy book.

The DSGMC will set up new machine at the cost of around Rs 8 crore.

The new golden offset printing press will be set up at newly constructed Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan in Gurdwara Rakab Ganj complex. The work for installation of the new machine is being undertaken by Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuriwale.

Guru Granth Sahib is living Guru for the Sikhs. It is seen by the Sikhs as the Guru incarnate, said Manjit Singh GK, president of the DSGMC.
