DU makes security arrangements for safe Holi

NEW DELHI: Delhi University today warned of strict possible disciplinary action to curb any act of “hooliganism and disturbance” during Holi (March 21) as per the provision of the University Ordinances, and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place Act, 2013.

Delhi University today warned of strict possible disciplinary action to curb any act of “hooliganism and disturbance” during Holi (March 21) as per the provision of the University Ordinances, and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place Act, 2013.

The university administration requested various law enforcement agencies, departments, college authorities and Delhi Metro and the DTC to increase the vigil at the gates of all respective premises and stop entries of unauthorised persons inside the campus.

The university proctor’s office convened a meeting with officials of the Delhi Police, DTC, Delhi Metro and the hostel, department and college authorities regarding the steps to be taken to prevent Holi hooliganism on March 12.

In the meeting, chaired by DU Proctor Prof Neeta Sehgal and co-chaired by Foreign Students’ Adviser Prof Shyama Rath, various authorities were asked to step up the vigil on their campuses and contact the Proctor’s office, Delhi Police helpline numbers displayed on Holi posters sent to all colleges, departments and hostel authorities in case of any problem arises.

The Maurice Nagar Police Station SHO apprised the participants of the initiative Himmat App taken by the Delhi Police to prevent the hooliganism by students during the Holi festival. — TNS
