e-commerce fraud busted in Delhi, 2 held with 14 iPhones

The Delhi Police have busted an alleged Rs 35 lakh online shopping fraud linked to an e-commerce delivery network and arrested two men, an official said on Tuesday.

The accused, identified as Jaspreet Singh (21) and Himanshu (30), were apprehended and 14 sealed iPhone 16 handsets worth around Rs 10 lakh have allegedly been recovered, the official said.

The police said the case came to light after a complaint was lodged by Sumit Aggarwal, a resident of Shastri Nagar, who reported that he had placed orders for 50 iPhone mobile phones through the e-commerce platform between April 12 and April 16. A case was registered and an investigation was initiated. During the probe, the police visited the e-commerce facility on GT Karnal Road, where officials shared shipment details. Analysis revealed that a majority of the consignments were assigned to delivery agent Jaspreet Singh.

“He was traced and apprehended. During interrogation, he disclosed that he, along with his associate Himanshu, misappropriated the consignments for wrongful gain. Himanshu was arrested at his instance,” the officer said. On their disclosure, the police recovered 14 sealed iPhones.
