Vijay Goel, former Union Minister and Vice-Chairman of Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his office in Parliament House on Tuesday, marking a meeting that combined a tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee with discussions on contemporary national and global issues.
During the meeting, Goel presented a coffee table book titled “Atal Bihari Vajpayee: The Eternal Statesman”, which highlights the life and legacy of the late leader. The gesture underscored Vajpayee’s enduring influence on Indian politics and governance.
Speaking after the meeting, Goel said they held a detailed discussion on various contemporary issues, and he congratulated the Prime Minister for his extraordinary contribution to the service of the nation.
He lauded Prime Minister Modi’s long-standing public service, stating, “Narendra Modi is among the select leaders of the country who had rendered uninterrupted public service for nearly 8,930 days while holding various offices, thereby creating a new record for leading the government for the longest period. This includes his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat and Prime Minister of India.”
Highlighting the current global scenario, Goel said: “In the present time of global crisis, the entire nation stands united under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and appreciates his guidance.”
He described the Prime Minister’s role during the Covid-19 pandemic as highly commendable, noting that he handled the country effectively and led it out of the crisis.
He said at a time when the world is entangled in various conflicts and wars, PM Modi, through his strong diplomacy, has successfully safeguarded India’s interests and strengthened the country’s position.”
