Faridabad police crack down on fake vehicle fitness racket, 1 held

The Faridabad police have busted a gang issuing forged vehicle fitness certificates and arrested one member. The accused was produced in a city court and remanded in police custody for two days.

According to a complaint by Vedpal, a resident of Civil Lines, Delhi, who runs Vedpal Tours and Travels and owns around 15 vehicles, he bought an Innova in Gurugram in 2023 and registered it at an acquaintance’s address.

In April 2025, when he visited the RTO to obtain a fitness certificate, he met a man identified as Rohit. Claiming expertise, Rohit gained his trust, collected the vehicle documents and later handed over a certificate, saying it was issued through an automotive company’s portal.

“After I grew suspicious and verified the document, it emerged that the company named had already surrendered its licence to the government. Company officials confirmed they had not issued the certificate,” Vedpal said in his complaint.

Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at Central police station. A team from the Sector 30 crime unit arrested Rohit, a resident of Shivaji Nagar, Gurugram.

“During interrogation, the accused said he met the complainant at the RTO office and took the vehicle documents. With the help of associates Narayan and Vikram, he arranged a fake certificate and handed it over. Efforts are under way to arrest the other gang members,” said a Faridabad Police spokesperson.
