Firing incidents: Two sharpshooters of Gogi Gang, Deepak Boxer gang nabbed
After the three recent shooting incidents in the Capital, the Delhi Police have nabbed two alleged accused involved in the incident at a sweets shop in Nangloi.
Police officials on Sunday said the two sharpshooters of Gogi Gang and Deepak Boxer Gang operated in the Delhi-NCR area. The police identified the accused as Jatin (21) and Hari Om, alias Lalla (27), and seized a semi-automatic pistol with five live cartridges, a country-made pistol with four live cartridges and a motorcycle used in the firing incident. They were apprehended by the Special Unit of the Delhi Police.
On September 28, accused Jatin and Lalla stood outside a sweets shop, Roshan Halwai, in Nangloi at 9.30 am on a black Hero Splendor motorcycle.
“They fired gunshots at the counter and an employee and threatened to extort money from the shop owner on the directions of jailed gangsters. The assailants also threw extortion slips featuring coloured photographs of deceased gangsters Jitender, alias Gogi, and Kuldeep Fazza on one side and names of jailed gangsters Deepak, alias Boxer, Ankesh Lakra and Vishal on the other side,” said Pratiksha Godara, Special Cell DCP.
A case was registered under Sections 109 (1) (attempt to murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the BNS and 25 and 27 (possession and using ammunition) of the Arms Act at the Nangloi police station.
Later, as per technical and human inputs, the suspects were identified, raids were conducted. However, they could not be traced.
On Saturday, acting on a tip-off, the team apprehended the duo, learning that they would be coming in the Rohini area.
On interrogation, it was found that accused Jatin was associated with gangster Lakra and both hail from the same village in Mundka.
“He is also an aide of gangster Deepak who is also linked to the Gogi Gang. Jatin received instructions from Lakra (lodged in Tihar jail) and Vishal (younger brother of gangster Gaurav Saharanpur, settled abroad) to fire at the sweet shop in Nangloi after acquiring illegal weapons from the sources of Lakra and Deepak. The recovered weapons were provided by the associates of Lakra at the designated place in the Sonepat area,” the DCP said.
Both Lakra and Deepak are presently heading the Gogi Gang and were also involved in the escape of gangster Kuldeep Fazza from police custody in 2021 from Delhi.
“Jatin persuaded Lalla to participate in the shooting to earn easy money. Following these instructions, both accused fired at Roshan Sweet Corner in Nangloi,” the official said.
Lalla, from Rohini, had completed his schooling, but fell in bad company and began committing crimes. He had previously been involved in three cases of quarrel, theft, and dacoity in Delhi, an official said.
Similarly, Jatin, after passing Class XII, came in contact with gangster Ankesh, alias Lakra.
“Around 10 days ago, jailed gangster Ankesh Lakra instructed him to fire at a sweet shop to extort easy money,” the official added.
