A five-year-old child died and another was injured after a jhuggi collapsed in northwest Delhi’s Wazirpur area, the police said on Saturday.

According to officials, a PCR call regarding the incident was received at the Bharat Nagar police station, following which a police team rushed to G-209, JJ Colony in Wazirpur.

Two children trapped in the jhuggi were shifted to a nearby hospital. One of them, identified as Divyanshu (5), was declared dead on arrival, while Rinki (10) is currently undergoing treatment.

A crime team, along with the forensic science laboratory (FSL) team, inspected the spot and collected evidence from the site. The police said a case had been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and investigation was underway to ascertain the cause of the collapse.
