Cow smugglers caused chaos on the streets of Gurugram over the weekend, attacking cow vigilantes and pelting stones at a moving police vehicle. After an hours-long chase, the smugglers’ vehicle overturned following a tyre burst. Four suspects were arrested, while three others managed to escape. An FIR was filed at Sector 65 police station.

According to police, on Saturday night cow vigilante Chaman Khatana received information that smugglers were planning to steal cows from the service lane near the sports stadium in Wazirabad village and transport them to Mewat for slaughter. Khatana, along with a team of fellow Gau Rakshaks (cow vigilantes), began pursuing the smugglers’ vehicle.

When the vigilantes attempted to intercept the vehicle, the smugglers accelerated and began throwing stones at their pursuers. The vigilantes continued the chase through to the Kadarpur area. During the pursuit, the smugglers’ vehicle suffered a tyre burst, causing it to lose control and overturn.

As the vehicle flipped, the smugglers attempted to flee on foot. However, a joint team of cow vigilantes and police managed to apprehend four of them, while three others escaped. Several cows were rescued from the overturned vehicle.

“An FIR has been registered and the arrested smugglers are being questioned. Raids are underway to locate the absconding accused, who will be arrested soon,” said Inspector Ajayveer Bhadana, SHO of the Sector 65 police station.
