Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsAmid concerns triggered by global geopolitical developments, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday assured residents that supplies of LPG, petrol and diesel in the national capital remain “normal, stable and sufficient”, urging people not to panic or resort to hoarding.
The Chief Minister said all gas agencies and bottling plants in Delhi currently have adequate stocks, with around 1.25 lakh LPG cylinders being delivered daily, consistent with regular demand. The average delivery time, she added, continues to remain within four to five days.
Emphasising that the government is closely monitoring the supply chain, Gupta said ensuring uninterrupted access to domestic LPG remains a priority. Consumers have been encouraged to book refills through digital platforms such as SMS, IVRS, WhatsApp and online portals.
She also highlighted that an OTP-based delivery authentication system had been implemented, with over 90 per cent of daily deliveries now being verified to improve transparency and safety.
To cater to vulnerable sections, the government is facilitating access to 5-kg cylinders under the Free Trade LPG (FTL) scheme for migrant workers against valid identity proof. Special outreach camps are also being organised across districts in coordination with administrative officials, where gas agency representatives are assisting residents with bookings and services.
At the same time, the authorities have stepped up action against black marketing and hoarding. According to the Chief Minister, over 540 raids have been conducted so far by joint teams of the Delhi Police and the Food and Civil Supplies Department, leading to the seizure of 2,027 cylinders and the registration of 44 FIRs.
Citing inputs from oil marketing companies, including HPCL officials, Gupta said consumer complaints were being addressed promptly and irregularities are being dealt with strictly.
A central control room has also been set up at Vikas Bhawan to ensure quick redressal of grievances.
Reiterating that there is no shortage of fuel in Delhi or across the country, the Chief Minister appealed to residents to rely only on official information, avoid panic buying and refrain from unnecessary stockpiling.
