The special campaign, conducted between November 1 and 27, targeted riders flouting helmet regulations.

A senior traffic police official emphasised the dangers of riding without a helmet. “Driving a two-wheeler without a helmet significantly increases the risk of severe head injuries in the event of an accident, which could result in brain damage, skull fractures or even death,” he said.

Under the Motor Vehicles Act, riding without a helmet is a traffic violation, punishable with a Rs 1,000 fine and potential three-month licence suspension.

Dr Rajesh Mohan, DCP (Traffic), said: “The aim of Gurugram police is to prevent road accidents and make our roads safe. We have conducted awareness drives at various locations, but despite these efforts, many drivers continue to ignore traffic rules. During this special campaign, challans were issued to ensure compliance. Our officials are prepared to take strict action against anyone not following traffic norms.”
