Gurugram police tighten security for Holi
37 checkpoints, QRTs and ERVs deployed to maintain law and order
The police have made special security arrangements for the upcoming Holi festivities, setting up 37 checkpoints across the district and launching a crackdown on criminals, anti-social elements, hooligans and drunk drivers.
A senior police officer said four Quick Response Teams (QRTs), 72 Police Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) and 135 Police Rider teams would be deployed to ensure a swift response to any incident. Legal action will be taken by registering an FIR against those who post hate speech, inflammatory material or objectionable content on social media.
A Gurugram police spokesperson said that, under the directions of Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar Arora, comprehensive security measures were being implemented to maintain peace and public order during Holi and Dhulandi.
Of the 37 checkpoints, nine will be set up in the East Zone, nine in the West Zone, five in the South Zone and 14 in the Manesar Zone.
Police have also issued special instructions to personnel to act against those creating disturbances on motorcycles. Additional forces have been deployed to patrol crowded areas, while adequate numbers of traffic police officers will be on duty to ensure smooth vehicular movement.
Sensitive locations, including cinema halls, malls, bus stands and railway stations, have been identified and will be closely monitored, the spokesperson added.
