The High Court said the Sessions Court granted an interim stay on Chib’s release without explaining why this was necessary.

The High Court was pleased to stay the Sessions Court order and grant appropriate relief, thereby restoring faith in due process and the rule of law, said Advocate Roopesh Bhadauria, National Chairman, IYC Legal Cell.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to uphold the rule of law and constitutional values,” he added.

Chib was granted bail by duty magistrate Vanshika Mehta on February 28 afternoon. However, the bail order was stayed by Additional Sessions Judge Amit Bansal later in the evening on the prosecution’s application without hearing Chib.
