HC video conference session hacked, obscene material aired during hearing

Proceedings before the Chief Justice’s Court of the Delhi High Court were disrupted on Wednesday after obscene content was repeatedly played during a live virtual hearing, prompting a complaint to the cyber wing of the Delhi Police.

The High Court administration has approached the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of Delhi Police, flagging a suspected cyber intrusion and seeking urgent investigation into a serious breach of court security during virtual proceedings. A preliminary inquiry has been launched.

The incident occurred before a Division Bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia, as the Court took up matters from the supplementary list. An unidentified participant joined under a suspicious username resembling “Shitjeet Sighn”.

Moments later, the participant took control of the screen-sharing function and broadcast explicit content, prompting staff to terminate the video conferencing session. When restored, the same user re-entered and again displayed obscene visuals, forcing a second shutdown.

In a third attempt, the intruder breached the system again and played explicit material. During the disruption, an unidentified voice warned that the system had been compromised and suggested the platform had been “hacked”.

The repeated breaches led to suspension of proceedings. When resumed, stricter access controls were enforced, with interactive functions disabled and both audio and video feeds from the Bench turned off as a precaution.
