Hotel prices in the Capital have gone through the roof. With a major global Artificial Intelligence (AI) summit around the corner, New Delhi’s hospitality sector is witnessing one of its sharpest price surges in recent years.

From luxury suites to standard five star rooms, tariffs have climbed dramatically as thousands of international delegates, tech CEOs, policymakers and foreign officials descend on the city.

A quick check of hotel listings during the summit dates reveals eye watering numbers. At iconic properties such as The Taj Palace, The Oberoi, The Leela Palace, and The Imperial, top-end suites are being quoted anywhere between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 30 lakh per night. Many of these hotels are already fully booked.

Even travellers looking for relatively ‘regular’ luxury rooms are feeling the pinch. At hotels like ITC Maurya, Hyatt Regency, and Shangri-La Eros, rooms that usually cost Rs 30,000- Rs 40,000 per night are now priced at Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh during the summit period. Properties close to Central Delhi, diplomatic zones and major venues are seeing the highest demand and the steepest hikes.

The ripple effect is visible across the city. Mid range hotels and serviced apartments in Aerocity, Connaught Place, and South Delhi have raised prices by 50 to 100 per cent. As a result, many domestic travellers and students attending side events are choosing to stay in Gurugram, Noida, or Faridabad, where rooms are still comparatively affordable.

High security requirements, special hospitality arrangements for foreign dignitaries, and near full occupancy allow hotels to apply peak pricing.

While the AI summit is being celebrated as a symbol of India’s growing global influence in technology, for many visitors the soaring hotel prices have become an unexpected talking point, turning a stay in the capital into a premium experience in every sense of the word.
