New Delhi, December 11

Environment and Forest Minister Imran Hussain today directed the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests to regularly monitor the plantation activities by the agencies on fortnightly basis and said he will monitor activities on monthly basis.

Hussain, who was reviewing the performance of all greening agencies regarding their targets for trees and shrubs plantation for the current financial year, also expressed concern regarding low green plantation done by the DDA which has planted only 2.5 lakh trees against its target of 8.75 lakh for 2018-19 affirmed by them in various meetings. He expressed hope that the DDA will try its best to achieve the targets set by them while praising the efforts of the Delhi Jal Board, Education Department, Tata Power, PWD, BSES, Delhi Transport Corporation, Northern Railway, Delhi Parks and Gardens Society (DPGS), etc., for over-achieving their targets. — TNS
