The police arrested an IIT engineer for stealing Rs 5 lakh from a car, which was parked in a housing society in New Palam Vihar. Along with the cash, three mobile phones and two laptops were recovered from him. The accused has been taken on 5-day police remand.

The accused has been identified as Denis alias Kullu, 31.

The police said, on Saturday, a property dealer residing in New Palam Vihar filed a complaint stating Rs 5 lakh had been stolen from his car. An FIR was registered.

During the investigation, police arrested the accused on Sunday near a shopping mall in Bajghera.

“The accused revealed when the car entered the society, he noticed bags inside the vehicle. After some time, he opened the car and stole the cash and items. The accused is currently being questioned,” said a police spokesperson.
