The International Kite Festival, inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Delhi’s Baansera, is quickly emerging as a major attraction on the Capital’s cultural and tourism calendar.
Since opening on January 16, the festival has seen a steady rise in attendance, reflecting strong public enthusiasm. Official figures shared by the Lieutenant Governor on Twitter show around 3,000 visitors on the first day, which began at 1:00 PM. Attendance surged to nearly 9,000 on the second day, and more than 15,000 people had visited the venue by 4:00 PM on Sunday.
The festival coincides with the 11th International Dance and Music Festival, organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). The cultural event has also drawn large crowds, with audiences enjoying performances by artists from India and abroad.
Set against the Yamuna riverfront, the twin festivals have turned Baansera into a vibrant cultural hub, promoting art, tradition, and community engagement. The strong turnout underscores Delhi’s renewed interest in public cultural events and positions Baansera as a key destination for large-scale celebrations in the city.
