Kejri launches mega campaign against vector-borne diseases

NEW DELHI:Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday announced the Delhi Government’s mega campaign titled ‘10 Hafte, 10 Baje, 10 Minute, Har Ravivar, Dengue Par War’ to contain dengue and chikungunya from Sunday, September 1 onwards for next consecutive 10 weeks.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday announced the Delhi Government’s mega campaign titled ‘10 Hafte, 10 Baje, 10 Minute, Har Ravivar, Dengue Par War’ to contain dengue and chikungunya from Sunday, September 1 onwards for next consecutive 10 weeks.

According to the Delhi Government figures, no death has been reported from dengue and chikungunya in 2019 in the Capital. 

The CM said with the collective efforts of the government and people of Delhi there was a sharp decline in the cases of vector borne diseases here in past three years.

Kejriwal announced that he would begin the campaign from his own house on Sunday. “We appeal to the people to give 10 minutes every Sunday at 10 am to check all the sources of stagnant water in their homes, as the dengue mosquitoes breed only in clean water” said Kejriwal. The campaign will continue for 10 weeks – throughout the season prone to these diseases. 

The Chief Minister further said health and education were priority sectors of this government, in 2015 – the first year of our government, 15,867 cases were reported, but in 2018 it was reduced to 2,798. 

Within three years Delhi witnessed 80 per cent decrease in the cases of dengue and chikungunya. The government has created a Dengue Control Cell, for prevention and awareness activities.

CAPITAL IS PREPARED

  • Dedicated wards for dengue patients have been set in government hospitals
  • Private hospitals have been instructed to allot 20 per cent of beds for dengue-chikungunya cases
  • Dengue Control Cell has been created for prevention and awareness activities
  • A nodal medical officer has been appointed in every government hospital to address these cases.
