Kejri to appear before Assembly Privileges panel on March 6

AAP national convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will appear before the Privileges Committee of the Delhi Legislative Assembly on March 6 in connection with the “phansi ghar” matter related to the Assembly premises.

In a letter written on Tuesday, Kejriwal had informed the Privileges Committee that he would personally present himself at 3 pm on March 6, after Holi, to respond to the summons issued to him and asserted that his legal remedies, objections and claims must remain reserved.

In the letter, Kejriwal also urged the Committee to ensure complete transparency by live-streaming the entire proceedings. He said public accountability demands that the people of Delhi should be able to watch the proceedings in real time.

Sharing a copy of the letter he has written to the Privileges Committee of the Delhi Legislative Assembly on X, Kejriwal stated, “Delhi is grappling with pollution, roads are broken, there are heaps of garbage everywhere, hospitals are facing shortage of medicines and the Delhi Assembly has called me to answer questions on a ‘phansi ghar’.” He added, “I have written to the Privileges Committee informing it that as per their summons, I will be present on March 6.”

Kejriwal clarified his appearance before the Committee will be without prejudice to his legal and constitutional rights.

“My appearance is without prejudice to my legal and constitutional rights, remedies, objections and contentions, all of which are expressly reserved. In the interest of transparency and public accountability, I request that the proceedings of the Committee in the present matter be live-streamed,” he said. — TNS
