Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday directed the officials concerned to submit a report on points vulnerable to being waterlogged in a week.

The CM’s directions came during a programme to launch the Flood Control Order report for the current year, in presence of other party leaders and top officers of the Delhi Government and civic agencies.

Kejriwal directed Chief Secretary Vijay Dev to ask all departments concerned to submit a list of already identified points across Delhi in the next seven days, along with the status report on the work done to prevent accumulation of water in problematic areas before  monsoon.

“All departments do a good job in implementing flood control measures in Delhi, but we want to make sure that there are no shortcomings in preparations for monsoon. Areas vulnerable to waterlogging should be identified and the problem should be prevented at the already known points. If for any reason, like a structural defect at any point, waterlogging can’t be prevented, it should be clearly recorded,” the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Secretary directed the officers to make sure that nothing brings a bad name to Delhi during monsoon.

He said: “Every officer under whose jurisdiction the respective areas fall will be responsible if water gets accumulated. Every department concerned and officer will be monitored during monsoon.”
