The construction of a long-pending Phirni Road and an RCC drain has begun at Katewara village in outer Delhi. The authorities claim the project is aimed at improving basic infrastructure and addressing persistent waterlogging issue in the area.
The project, initiated under the Delhi Village Development Board (DVDB), is being executed by the Irrigation and Flood Control Department. It has been taken up following efforts by Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh.
Officials said the development is expected to significantly improve connectivity within the village, while providing a long-term solution to drainage problems that have affected residents for years, particularly during the monsoon season.
Welcoming the move, residents of Katewara said the demand for proper road infrastructure and drainage had been pending for a long time. Many expressed hope that the project would ease daily commuting and reduce water accumulation in low-lying areas.
According to the minister, multiple development works are currently underway in the Bawana constituency through Gram Vikas Board funds, with a focus on strengthening rural infrastructure.
He said the government is working towards ensuring that villages in Delhi receive essential civic amenities and better connectivity. “Development of villages and rural areas remains a priority. Strengthening infrastructure is key to improving quality of life,” Singh said, adding that the ongoing works are part of a broader effort to promote balanced and inclusive development.
