Kherki Daula toll plaza on Delhi-Gurugram Expressway to cost Rs 100 for cars
Residents and office-goers are feeling betrayed, as they were promised the toll would be removed or shifted
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a toll rate hike in Haryana, effective April 1, sparking frustration among daily commuters. The Kherki Daula toll plaza on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway (NH-48) will see a 4-5 per cent increase in toll fees.
For private car owners, the one-way trip will cost Rs 100, up from Rs 95. Larger commercial vehicles and oversized trucks will see steeper hikes of up to Rs 15 per trip. The annual FASTag pass will also become costlier, jumping from Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,075.
Double blow for commuters
This is the second hike in six months, following a previous increase in November 2025. Residents and office-goers are feeling betrayed, as they were promised the toll would be removed or shifted.
The Kherki Daula toll handles 70,000 vehicles daily and is one of the busiest in the region. While NHAI maintains that annual revisions are a standard policy linked to inflation and maintenance costs, the local sentiment is one of betrayal. For years, residents of New Gurugram have been protesting for the complete removal or shifting of the toll plaza, which often causes massive traffic bottlenecks.
Residents speak out
Local commuters are speaking out, saying they’re paying more for a service that should be discontinued. “It’s a cruel joke on the residents of Gurugram. Every year we are told the toll will be shifted or removed to ease our travel, but instead the prices move upwards. Paying Rs 100 just to move out of our home and wander in our city or reaching office is becoming an unbearable financial burden. Lakhs in New Gurugram will be impacted,” said Praveen Malik, president, United Association of New Gurugram.
Regional impact
Other key transit points in Haryana are also affected, including NH-152 (Hisar-Chandigarh), where the Thana toll plaza will see increases of Rs 5 to Rs 10 across categories.
Cashless system
From midnight on March 31, all toll plazas will transition to a fully cashless system, which may pose a challenge for digitally illiterate drivers.
