Lawrence Bishnoi gang claims responsibility for Shastri Park murder
Cops say personal rivalry behind killing
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the murder that took place in Delhi’s Shastri Park area, stating that the killing was carried out at the behest of North East Delhi gangster Hashim Baba.
The deceased was identified as 33-year-old Wasim, a resident of the Buland Masjid area in Shastri Park.
The claim was made through a social media post in which the gang alleged that the victim was repeatedly speaking against Hashim Baba and was, therefore, killed.
However, the Delhi Police have maintained that the murder was the result of personal enmity. Police officials said they solved the case within a few hours of the incident and arrested two brothers in connection with the killing. The knife used in the crime had also been seized.
Notably, gangster Hashim Baba is currently lodged in Tihar Jail, while Lawrence Bishnoi is imprisoned in Sabarmati Jail.
According to the police, the murder took place on the intervening night of December 30 and 31. The police received information from JPC Hospital in Shastri Park that a man with stab injuries had been brought to the facility. Doctors later declared him dead.
