Main accused arrested in cop drag-death case
The main accused in the brutal killing of a Delhi Police constable, who was allegedly mowed down by a car and dragged 10 m in the Nangloi area, was arrested on Monday.
Meanwhile, a court here on Monday sent the other accused in the matter, Rajnish alias Situ, to three-day police custody. Rajnish, who was sitting next to the driver seat, was arrested on Sunday.
Constable Sandeep was on night patrolling duty when a white Wagon-R struck him from behind, dragging him for 10 m before colliding with another vehicle.
The police indicated that the incident appeared to be intentional, and the two accused fled the scene to evade arrest.
According to Jimmy Chiram, DCP of Outer District, “The prime suspect, Dharmendra Gulia, fled to Himachal Pradesh. Despite intense raids in Sirmaur, Gulia managed to escape. Further raids conducted in Haryana and Delhi ultimately led to his capture near Karnal Bypass.”
Rajnish (25), a resident of Ratan Bagh in Veena Enclave, runs a grocery shop in Rishal Garden, Delhi. Gulia, alias Bhindre (39), also from Veena Enclave, Nangloi, is employed at Flipkart.
“During investigation, no evidence suggesting the involvement of any liquor mafia in this incident has been found,” the DCP added.
