The police arrested the main accused in the murder of a 25-year-old cab driver. The deceased was identified as Suraj, a native of Murena in Madhya Pradesh.
The accused, also a cab driver, revealed that he, along with his other friends, booked the cab online. On the way, they strangled Suraj to death with a muffler. After committing the crime, they dumped the body in a field and fled with his cab. The police have recovered the car used in the crime from his possession.
In a complaint, Suraj’s family members alleged that he was kidnapped. Suraj left home on January 27 afternoon, but never returned. His mobile phone was also found switched off while his location was found in Delhi.
The police registered a case at the Sector 9 police station. During investigation, they came to know that Suraj was murdered after being kidnapped. The police arrested the main accused from the Basai area on Thursday. He was identified as Shanu (21), a native of Purvabhol village, Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh.
“Shanu revealed that he, along with his other accomplices, booked a cab online. After a short distance, they asked the driver to stop the car on the pretext of urinating. In the meantime, they grabbed Suraj from behind and strangled him to death with a muffler. They later dumped his body in a field in Farrukhnagar and fled with his taxi. We are trying to nab other accused,” said a spokesperson for the Gurugram police.
