Man held for duping 2 of jewellery on job promise

Accused admitted to have committed two such crimes earlier also

The Gurugram police have arrested a man for duping two women of their jewellery on the pretext of providing them jobs. An FIR was registered at the Udyog Vihar police station after he fled with the jewellery.

As per a complaint, on December 4 last she and her friend had gone to Udyog Vihar Phase 1 area in search of job. A young man on a bike approached them and promised to find them employment. He took them to a company and talked to a guard as the women stood at a distance. Telling the women that they had been hired, he asked them to take off their jewellery as it is not allowed inside the company. After tricking them, the man fled with their jewellery. The police arrested the accused, identified as Samyak (24), a native of Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh, from Basai Chowk on Wednesday.

“During interrogation, the accused revealed that earlier he had been working with a company and was unemployed now. He would promise job opportunities to women and after gaining their trust would steal their jewellery. He admitted to have committed two more such crimes in Gurugram,” said a spokesperson of Gurugram police.
