Man makes hoax call at IGIA to stop wife, held

NEW DELHI:The caller who made a hoax call at Delhi IGI Airport on August 8, alleging the presence of a Fidayeen attacker on the premises of the airport has been arrested.

The caller who made a hoax call at Delhi IGI Airport on August 8, alleging the presence of a Fidayeen attacker on the premises of the airport has been arrested. 

The SIM card and the phone he had used to make the call were also recovered by the Delhi police special cell, said police.

On August 15, a tip off was received that the hoax caller Nasrudeen (28) was in Bawana industrial area. For the same, a police team was constituted and it led to the arrest of the accused, DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said. 

The call was made in an attempt to stop his wife from leaving India. It created panic at the airport and resulted in temporary suspension of operations of International flights, said the DCP . 

The call was received at Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) Call Centre, based in Gurugram, Haryana. 

 In view of the  Independence day celebrations,  the apprehension of possibility of a terrorist action gained ground. Various teams of Delhi Police and CISF officials were deployed to trace the lady. 

The accused told the official that he was speaking from Chennai and a woman Zabina, who was readying to leave for either Dubai or Saudi Arab, could cause explosion in the flight.

After further communication with the caller and the suspect, the panic call was debunked, however, the security agencies remained on a stand-by mode. The search for the lady was under way, said the DCP.
