Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Tuesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 12 years in office and said May 26, 2014, would be remembered not just as a political transition, but as the “foundation day of service-oriented good governance”.

Sachdeva said the Modi government had redefined governance through initiatives focused on public service and national development. He cited the renaming of Rajpath as Kartavya Path, the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, and the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya among the government’s achievements.

The Delhi BJP chief also targeted Opposition parties, alleging that Delhi was freed from the “anarchic and corrupt” government led by former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in 2025, while West Bengal was rid of the “misgovernance” of former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in 2026.

Sachdeva linked the anniversary of the Modi government with the Delhi Cabinet’s recent decision to raise the annual income eligibility limit for ration cards from Rs 1.2 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh.

He said the BJP government in Delhi had started the process of issuing 2.5 lakh new ration cards last week and described the revised income ceiling as another example of public service.
