Mayor advocates 24X7 cleanliness in Chandni Chowk
Mayor Shelly Oberoi conducted a late-night inspection of Ward No. 74, Chandni Chowk, to assess the cleanliness and sanitation efforts undertaken by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
The inspection, which spanned from the Lal Quila to Fatehpuri, aimed to evaluate the area’s overall cleanliness, with the Mayor interacting with local shopkeepers and residents for feedback.
The Mayor highlighted the MCD’s new initiative of night-time cleaning operations, which complement the existing day-time routine.
“We have introduced night-time cleaning operations to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for the residents and visitors of Chandni Chowk. This move will help preserve the cultural heritage and historical significance of one of Delhi’s most iconic markets,” she said.
While the cleanliness was found satisfactory in most areas, she directed MCD officials to further enhance sanitation efforts. “Our commitment to deliver on the 10 guarantees promised by Arvind Kejriwal remains strong, and making Delhi clean and beautiful is one of our top priorities,” she added.
The new cleaning operations will include dedicated cleaning teams and mechanised machinery to ensure the area stays clean 24/7. “Our mission is to maintain a clean and beautiful Chandni Chowk, even at night. This initiative will not only boost sanitation but also enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area,” she said.
