MC rolls out initiatives to boost voter turnout
To enhance voter participation and strengthen Delhi’s democratic process, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched a series of initiatives ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections on February 5.
Aiming to inspire more residents to cast their votes, the MCD has partnered with the hospitality industry and local market associations to offer enticing discounts for voters across various zones in the city.
One of the standout initiatives is a collaboration with PVR Cinema, hotels and restaurants in Shahdara South Zone. Voters who provide proof of voting by showing the ink mark on their finger will receive discounts of up to 30% at Hotel Holiday Inn in Mayur Vihar and various other participating establishments in the area. The initiative is designed to encourage more persons to engage in the electoral process while enjoying the benefits of local businesses.
The MCD’s Central Zone has also launched the “Incentive-Based I Voted” campaign, which promises discounts of up to 20% at restaurants, hotels and other hospitality outlets to voters.
From February 5 to 9, those who cast their votes and show the ink mark will be eligible for these discounts. In a push to increase awareness, the campaign will be heavily promoted through social and digital media platforms. Local market associations in the Central Zone have also joined the effort, mobilising traders to offer similar incentives, further motivating residents to participate in the elections.
Additionally, the Keshavpuram zone is introducing its own “Democracy Discount” initiative, offering special deals at malls, restaurants and eateries for voters. This zone-wide effort is another step by the MCD to create a festive and engaging atmosphere surrounding the elections.
These initiatives, designed to blend civic duty with local business incentives, highlight the MCD’s commitment to increasing voter turnout and ensuring a robust democratic process in Delhi. By offering tangible rewards for civic engagement, the MCD hopes to inspire a larger portion of the electorate to head to the polls on February 5 and actively participate in shaping the future of the Capital.
