The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Thursday organised a solemn ceremony to mark the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at his statue site in Shivaji Park on Jawaharlal Nehru Marg.
Satya Sharma, chairperson of the MCD Standing Committee, attended the programme as the chief guest and paid floral tributes to the statue of the Maratha warrior king. Municipal officials, the local councillor and several residents were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Sharma remembered Shivaji Maharaj’s unparalleled courage, patriotism and commitment to good governance. She said he was not only a brave warrior but also an outstanding administrator and a true leader of the people.
“The example he set in good governance, courage and national pride continues to inspire us even today,” she said, adding that the MCD remains committed to imbibing his ideals while serving citizens with dedication and ensuring transparent governance.
